Essential Tips for Sync Success
1. Your Music Needs to Shine
Don’t send demos. Ever. Your tracks must be professionally produced, mastered, and polished to perfection. If it’s not ready for the spotlight, don’t pitch it.
2. Metadata Everything
Think of metadata as your song’s resume. It should scream, “Pick me!” Include:
Who owns the master and publishing rights.
Lyrics and themes.
Your email and phone number (yes, in the metadata).
Make it easy for music supervisors to find your track and contact you while they’re on the go. The extra effort puts you ahead of the pack.
3. Use Trusted Delivery Tools
Send your tracks via platforms supervisors actually like—Disco, Dropbox, WeTransfer, or Box. Don’t reinvent the wheel.
4. Always Offer MP3s
Never send AIFFs unless asked. Supervisors aren’t downloading gigs of data when they’re browsing for quick options.
5. Include Instrumentals
Instrumentals double your sync chances. Many cues these days are just the beats, not the vocals.
6. Offer Multiple Edits
Clean versions? Radio edits? Short stingers? Give them options, especially if your lyrics could ruffle feathers.
7. Keep Your Stems Accessible
Supervisors sometimes need audio stems to tweak your track. Be ready to provide them without a scramble.
Do this right, and your music will stop being “one of many” and become “the one they need.”
"Don’t let your music collect dust—let it collect royalties.”
